FAQ

Can you give me some information about the club?
ABLE was organized in the fall 2007 in an effort to allow students the opportunity to become active on campus and demonstrate the qualities that recruiters and interviewers look for in students such as leadership, time management, and community service.  We are different than other groups on the uAlbany campus because we are a club, not a fraternity.  In a nutshell this means that we do not pick and choose our members, everyone is welcome.  Any major, any student status.  As long as you pay our membership fee, you can be a member.  Currently we have two commitees, a fundraising committee and a community service committee.  Each committee plans events in its category.  Members can join either of the two committee’s and assist in the planning of events.  We also have social events that are organized by the club.

What is the membership fee?
The membership fee is $40 a semester.

What does the membership fee go to?
The membership fee goes to sponsor the events and activities that the club organizes and participates in.  Many of the fundraisers that we do, also require an investment to start (It takes money to make money!).

How many meetings are there?
We usually hold one meeting a week.  However certain events may require more meetings, so this may change depending on situation.

When are the meetings?
Usually Tuesday nights, please check the homepage of our website for more details.

Do I have to go to the meetings?
You are not required to come to every meeting.  A 50% meeting participation rate is required to attend our events.  But keep in mind that many of the activities that the club organizes have a limited amount of spots.  The members that participate more, will obviously have priority.  Also keep in mind, the more time you invest in ABLE, the more you will get out of it.

Can you tell me why I should join ABLE?
Every student takes the same classes, and does the same projects.  Most of us will also apply to the same jobs.  You want your resume to stick out.  ABLE provides unique opportunities for leadership and campus particpation that are simply not offered elsewhere.  Once again the more active you are in ABLE, the bigger the benefits will be.  Also keep in mind that ABLE also allows for social networking with your peers and plenty of opportunities for fun.

How do I join?
Come to one of our meetings, and sign the signup sheet.
