- Private Accounting- you work for the clients of public accounting
- Examples: GE or locally owned deli
- Many of the classes Jason took at UAlbany could never prepare him for his career
- All journal entries are made by computers
- Project Torch-integrates legacy systems (outdated system that does not work anymore)
- Private vs. Public Accounting
- Opting out of public accounting is not the wrong decision
- Keep all options open
- Get as much experience as possible
- Private companies do not recruit
- Found his GE internship through monster.com
- GE offers a 1 year, paid internship
- Why did you choose not to do public accounting?
- Felt like a number
- So busy and high-pressured
- People did not take the time to fully understand what they were doing
- GE is flexible with hours
- Get as much information as possible
- A lot of information is readily available
- A lot of information you need to go out and find
